About Virginia Walker

Virginia Walker has been a finalist for Suffolk County Poet Laureate and her poetry has been published in local and national publications, including Long Island Quarterly, South Fork Naturalist, The Nassau Review, Pegasus, Minetta Review, and the anthologies, The Light of City and Sea, Touched by Eros, In Autumn, Bards Annual, and Poems in the Garden: Rebel Road 7. She has mentored many poetry workshops on Long Island for Live Poets and has been a visiting poet in East End middle schools. She lives on Shelter Island and is active in the East End Poetry Workshop. She has created many poetry events at Dowling College featuring East End Poets

Virginia Walker earned her Ph.D. at New York University. She teaches English and Humanities courses at Dowling College and Suffolk County Community College.

At the National Council of Teachers of English she has presented papers on speculative fiction writings by women, on propaganda and ethics in fiction, and on making poetry accessible to students. She has presented papers on the anti-utopian writings of Walker Percy and on leadership in feminist novels to The Society for Utopian Studies. At the Community College Humanities Association, she has presented papers dealing with the Armenian genocide and American Indian mythologies in fiction.

        Michael Walsh graduated from Gilmour Academy, took a B.A. in anthropology from Cleveland State University, and did further course work at John Carroll and Yale Universities. He is happiest with his rock hammer, kneeling in a creek bed or combing shale cliffs for Paleozoic fossils. He contributes his collections to museums and colleges.

        Michael has published more than 80 poems in numerous magazines and anthologies, and has read his poetry in Ohio, Manhattan and across Long Island. He is a human rights and animal rights advocate and is interested in the intertwine of psyche. He feels we live in a small world without room for expansion and we need to get along.

       

       
        Kosh is a graphic artist, art director, album designer, and documentary director/producer. Born in England, John Kosh designed for the Royal Opera House and the Royal Ballet before becoming Creative Director for Apple Records.
        The album covers Kosh designed for the Beatles won many awards and more recently became commemorative postage stamps.
Since coming to the United States, Kosh has designed for Capitol Records, Walt Disney Studios, Sony Records, and Warner Bros. Records, among others. Along with actor Susan Shearer, Kosh formed Ten Worlds Productions which has produced many Emmy award-winning documentaries such as "Declassified: The Rise and fall of the Wall," about the Berlin Wall.
